A neighbor who has farmed all his life told me about a stunt he pulled last week. He was mowing with his open station 966 (loader on the tractor) and 2715 mower. The hitch pin came out and the mower stopped; tractor kept going. The tractor side of the PTO remained attached to the tractor, but he got the PTO shut down before doing any damage. He got off; surveyed the damage; decided there wasn't any. He decided if he lifted the mower up with the loader and put a block under it he could hook back up and everything would be fine. It might have been if he hadn't backed up before he took the tractor side of the PTO off. Cost $800 for a new PTO driveline.
