There is some sort of rule/policy/law about who can charge a fee to conduct a tour in Gettysburg so as a result most of the guided tours are conducted by people who have an extreme interest/knowledge about the battle since they have to be licensed which involves a demonstration of knowledge.
If you want you can get a personal tour with a guide in your car (they'll even drive if you want although I have trouble giving up the wheel). Cost is a pretty reasonable $55 for an hour tour. They will customize it to your interests and increase the time as long as you schedule it accordingly.
