I would emove the mag fasten it in a vice make a mark where #1 wire goes on the body. Then turn it over to see if it snaps at that position. If i dont get any fire i remove the points and with the wire brush on a motor give them a good polish install and with a wire hooked to the cap and good plug i can turn it over and check for spark. Then i know it will fire when installed.
