Thank you for the suggestions. We ended up with a Frigidaire partly because our other freezer is Frigidaire and this one came from the same dealer. It cost a twitch less than the competition and being American made gives us a warm fuzzy feeling.
We aren't out of the woods yet though because of the amp load. It's in an attached garage built in 1967, with one 20 amp circuit for the whole garage and this circuit comes out of a breaker in the house that shares some household load too. The big freezer is on this circuit also, and the new freezer pulls 5 amps. The only other load in the garage besides the freezers is three lights and a door opener. An electrician might be paying us a visit. Another example of how a purchase like this can snowball. Jim
