My daughter has a magnet on small wheels that you can roll over an area and pick up nails, etc. It's about 18" wide. Shouldn't take over a couple days to run it over that field and find that pin. LOL Seriously, I am glad your wife wasn't hurt. That shows that she pays attention to the work at hand, because we all know how fast something can ride up a tractor wheel. Just throw in an extra word of thanks tonight when you say your bedtime prayers.
