I was in town yesterday morning, around 9 AM, a country town of about 25,000. I was in the right lane and when I could I looked over to the car passing in the left lane. I have a truck and most were cars. MOST of the drivers had their "intoxicating habit" sitting on the center of their steering wheel going at it 90 to nothing. One guy was reading a magazine.
I missed catching a green light in a left turn lane once while the car ahead of me turning left also, was so involved in texting that the light changed and she was sitting in the middle of the intersection with cross traffic starting to roll and she was totally oblivious to the whole thing.
