Duner is right. It is a lip seal. You do have to split the tractor but you do not have to disturb the crank to get the seal out. The seal is in a plate that bolts to the back of the block. Eight bolts if I remember right. Two of them are from the inside of the block out and the rest are from the outside in. Pretty amazing that while everyone else was using rope seals Continental was using a more modern lip seal on the cranks. It would take the auto industry almost 40 more years to catch on to using a lip seal on the rear mains.
