If that is an older Honda, you may have an oil light that shows when the oil is overheated, not low.
My TRX300 4x4 would make the light go on if I was pulling a heavy trailer slowly and the air cooled engine got too hot. My ace Honda mechanic told me that I should change the oil after anytime that the light had come on, as the oil was hot enough to break it down chemically.
I eventually traded for a water cooled Honda so I could pull my trailer.
