When I worked in the Mines we used to fill our underground Loaders & End-Dumps tires with tire foam. We'd run those tires until the rubber was worn off & the foam was showing. When we changed out a tire, the old tire & rim were thrown away and a new foam filled tire & rim were put on. It's almost impossible to save the rim, you'd have to cut the tire off & as much foam as possible & then BURN the rest of the foam off of the rim - which takes the temper out of the rim & makes it unusable.
Yeh, we tried to save the rims ($12,000. each), it just wasn't cost effective.

Today's Featured Article - Tractor Traction - by Chris Pratt. Our first bout with traction problems came when cultivatin with our Massey-Harris Pony. Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
