Cost depends on who's opinion and what kind of steel you are planning on using. I just put a roof on a 30 x 40 with a 4/12 pitch. I did not remove old 1 layer asphalt roof, I put down 30# felt, not the thin 15#, and screwed down the metal, I have about $1800 in it, did all the labor myself. I have the same type of roof on my house, but I do not remember what it cost as that was a few years ago. Others have the opinion that the shingles must be removed etc.. I have several buildings in michigan, 2 of them being houses that are done this way and have had no problems in 10 years.
