Having a gas bubble in my brain right now. There weren't any set of numbers assigned to a particular model. You could have a 550 with whatever serial number and the next consecutive number could be on an 1850. They were just numbered the way they came down the line. That said,I think that only applied to the Charles City builts didn't it? The Super 99 and Super 44 were built in South Bend. Big but here,the 440 production was moved to Charles City wasn't it? I know the Super 44's only had a 4 digit serial and the 440's started with a high 5 digit and went to a 6. So the serial won't tell the model of that one,only the year if he's sure of the model. He'd have to post the specification number to come up with the model.
