The loading I believe is a holiday weekend thing. I had the exact same thing happen when buying deck boards to redo the deck. Fella about 20 helped pick out every board, about 60 total. Then he and another guy loaded them in the PU while I did some more shopping. Lowes is our closest HW store. They have been really good about service and have made money from me for it.
Menard's on the other hand. Went there twice to price pole buildings this past week. Both times the service counter shut be down because they were too busy to help. Use the kiosk I was told. I came home and e-mailed the main office and told them. This building specs out over $40K and you just lost the sale.
