If you drove it a mile on the road with the brakes engaged what you did was put about two years worth or normal running on the steering brakes.. Brakes run in oil and are hard to wear and long life but that kind of abuse took away a lot of steering brake life. Will need someone qualified that knows what they are doing to re adjust everything for further use.
