Hi, I mowed my field this Summer with my old 5 foot "bush hog" mower, and it did fine, but I'd like to go faster and cut wider. I solved my overheating problems, and it turned out it was not the "bush hog" that was causing the problem.
My field is about 15 acres of a very old farm. It is kinda humpy, but works ok with either "bush hog" or 7' sickle bar mower. I have both.
My only problem with the sickle bar (Massey Dynabalance 41) is that the weeds are viney in places Vetch, and recently Bedstraw is coming in.
I'm not baling it, just knocking it down for weed control till I retire, then I might want to bale it.
Is there a better mower for viney type forage? I was thinking of one of the old drum mowers, or a disc/bar mower?
Drum type (I really don't know if major manufactures still make these?)
