I"ve had nothing but liability on my vehicles for a long time now, and do it for the same reason you say. Basically I save enough money to buy another good, used truck, or whatever should something ever happen to mine.
Now I keep full coverage on my wife"s vehicles for the simple fact that she does way more driving in traffic than I do, and I try to keep her in a little newer vehicles than I drive myself. In any case the cost to keep the extra insurance on them is well worth it -vs- the cost to replace any of them.
