People have tried remedies such as that and have lost in court after an incident had occurred. A gate is probably not much different in cost versus a chain hefty enough to matter then it is the matter of heavier posts to support it. I put a gate up at a farm entrance and can rest more peacefully because of it. Some of the local dipsticks are hard up for cash so I refuse to leave anything knowingly to chance.
