I have not done that for a long long time,(maybe 40 years ago :) Disconnect the plunger connecting rod, back the bale tension adjustments way loose and push / pull the plunger out the rear. Hire a skinny agile young boy to put the new wood in place with your help from outside.
I made 10's of thousands bales with both a 68 and the later 268 that replaced it. I liked the 68 better, as that two big sprockets and chain feeder on the 68 made little noise, while the noisy roller supported feeder in the 268 made such a racket.
