Hate resurrecting an old thread but this is the same exact thing that I am facing.
Just picked up a Sherman 54B360 over the weekend. The back hoe is in great condition other than the swing cylinder Rods being pitted causing leakage and the pump mount housing has the two lower mounting ears snapped off. No welds anywhere on the main arms. Only weld I see is to the seat mount which seems like it was extended some. Ironically all of the other cylinder rods are perfect looking.
Were the swing cylinders originally chromed? Odd that they pitted so badly.I can post pictures later when I get home.
Jesse in WI, what did you end up doing with the swing cylinders? Did you re-chrome the rods? I think mine may be beyond chroming.
Old, if you still have the digger laying around I would luv to know if you have the pump mount housing still.
Thanks
