friend just came back from his dads place in Louisianna. With him came a 1950s brush hog type mower. It is 3 point with a tail wheel. The elder man was using it with a jubilee. We are having to change out the pto shaft. It has set awhile so we decided to change grease/oil in the gear box. When we took the cover off the box there was just some white grease stuck to the inside of the box. Question is. Is that what it is suppose to have in it or did the elder change it to prevent a possible leak? We did find it was a JD rotary mower maybe a 376 or 379 model he cant remember. any info on what this is suppose to have in the gear box would be appreciated.
