It's probably not this simple but maybe all you need is a shot of oil in the linkage. Had a similar problem with the 1086 last winter only it sometimes wouldn't go into park. I had all kinds of expensive ideas in my mind on what the problem was but then on a whim I shot oil on the roller at the bottom of the shift levers and it instantly went into park better then it had for several years. A 1086 is a little different but similar. It's a darned good feeling when something simple like that works out OK. Jim
