If you cover the hole, pack it down, you shouldn't notice any odor, I had 3 a few years back that made dens in really bad places, I soaked some rags and such, shoved those into the den opening as far as I could push them in, then covered the holes, tamped and that was the end of it, leg/ankle breakers. I've live trapped & released 3 killed at least 3 this year, neighbor 2, really need to deal with a dozen dens at the base of the hill, way out of control, and now have beaver working my stream where the tractor path crosses it, odd as he can't make a pond there, but upstream its possible, darned critters !!!
