My dad had congenital cataracts. His whole life he had bad vision and everything he seen was dull and hazy. In his late forties, he had them removed one at a time, maybe a month apart.
When they took the patch off his eye for the first time, he had like a sensory overload. He wasn"t color blind, but because the cataract made everything cloudy, he had never seen bright colors, just dull shades.
It took my mom several hours to bring him the 30 miles home. They had to go through every car dealership lot just so he could look at all the different color schemes on cars and all the details that he had never seen before.
When he came back to the shop, the first thing he said is "I had no idea my red toolbox was sooo red" BW
