I have been looking for an old farm windmill. We have a neat old log cabin on the top of a big hill and it sure would look good to have an old windmill in close proximity. It probably would not be used for anything but to look at. Windmills are hard to find. I have located several in various conditions. I have noticed that the ones standing in the open still look like new as the galvanizing is still excellent. The ones standing in the woods however are not as pretty as the resins from the trees have made them look brown, almost like rust. The nicest windmill I have found is this way. Mechanically it is complete however it is discolored. My question is simply can this metal be cleaned up? or is it nothing to worry about. Will this metal still have good galvanizing under the discolored metal. Sorry about the off topic post, but thought there would be some good opinions here.
