I am sure there are reasons to not clean 22's,but I prefer to keep the rifle clean, as I can see if there is any corrosion in the barrel, and with lead covering it up, I can't see whats under it. I don't like having any firearm (handgun, rifle, etc) that hasn't been cleaned after shooting. It's just my may. I can inspect it for any damage, clean the action down, look for any unsafe mechanisms. I, like you don't wish to tell others how to treat their firearms nor do I feel the need to try and know it all like some other posters do. I call ammuniton by what the manufacturer does or the big name sellers. Below is another link to "jacketed 22's" although they are used in older firearms, there is such an item, and I would never say there has never been a "jacketed 22" as I am sure others are out there. I thank you for your time in responding. LOU
