With all the meth heads around here, if you leave package and cash, both will be long gone by the time the carrier gets there to pick it up. I haven't mailed a letter by putting it in my mailbox in years- the little flag just tips off the crooks that something is waiting for them in the box. Perhaps a check that they can wash and re-direct to themselves.
