As far as I'm concerned they could wipe out half of them and nobody would really notice after a week... Here they're doing away with home delivery in favor of community boxes and reducing rural delivery in the same manner. They could easily consolidate 4-5 post offices in the area into one as far as I can tell and it'd make no difference. The other sacred cow here is schools. Half the people are gone but the schools are still here. They're now talking about closing half of them... as they should... but they will likely be faced with an insurrection of the uneducated if they try to do what's right.
