A perfectly good front pump will not move oil unless it has pressurized oil supplied to it's inlet. No use replacing the front pump when it's starving for supply oil.
It appears that some bubba has ripped through the hydraulics and missed peice 27 . Which explains why lots of rpm is required to make the trans pump flow enough to over come the leak back into the transmission sump . With enough rpm it sends a trickle of oil to the front pump, just enough to make it cavitate.
