Wonder what would happen if you hooked up both tanks in battery with a valve to switch between them? Then you could buy gas from both companies, whoever is cheaper. Most propane companies I have dealt with are PITA's, Seems all the bad apples in Cable TV companies switched to propane companies when the cable folks had to clean up their act.
I'm not real enthused to enter into a business relationship with a company that wants exclusive rights to my business. It's usually crooks, the criminally incompetent our under performers who want a deal where you can't go elsewhere. That kind of deal leads to overcharging and poor service.
