The neighbor had an ongoing problem with the pack of dogs he was keeping on his place until they were caught chasing the other neighbors horses and caused one foal to break his leg and had to be put down. After going to court to fight the charges (the horse people wanted $9,000 for the foal.) and talking to his lawyer who said if they can show they were making a living off their livestock he could be liable for $75,000. He ended up giving them his backhoe and no longer has dogs.
