The trouble is that you can easily spend more than something is worth. So you can go out and buy a good running machine rather than the junk one.
Your little skid loader sure looks nice but if you counted the time and effort you have put into it than you could have bought a running one cheaper.
That is why you have to look at this collecting/restoring as a hobby. There is little money to be made in it anymore.
I have tractors that I have 2-3 times their value invested/spent on them. I look at it this way. I do not smoke, drink, or live fancy. So the money I save on these things, that many others spend it on, is spent on my tractors/hobbies.
