I've always said that the only thing Ford could make right was the big stuff. That's all I would own when I drove school bus. That trans combination is sure going to get tiresome, though. With my shoulders I'm not sure I could even do it anymore.
Don't be scared of those big engines. 30,000 miles is good, although you sure won't get 100,000 out of that engine before a rebuild. I would say it has another 30 in it, though. It will want some oil. Those valve guide seals seem to do that on those old Fords. A always kept a bottle of seal restore in with every oil change.
