Wheatfarmer, When we first started burning wood, we had a little potbelly tin stove, we tried pine. It had so much pitch in it, all it would do is creosote the chimney up. We tried to let it dry for 2-3 years, and by then the termites got to it,so all we was burning was sawdust,and no heat.lol. I thought our price was outrageous,but you have us beat, do they put gold dust in the pine for that price.lol. I think I would burn barbecue charcoal with rocks on top, before I'd pay that price.
