No, you want it as close to level as possible at mowing height. The one at work had a severe nose-down pitch to it, and wouldn"t cut worth a snot. Even with the lift rods shortened clear up, it"s still nose-down a little, but cuts much better. When it"s nose-down, the plants don"t come back up into the blades as well when they go under the body of the mower. If you"re mower has a severe nose-down, I bet it cuts great in reverse. I"d say slight nose-up would be best.
