One thing for everyone to know: You cannot fly on the card. Yes you can use the card to travel on a cruise but what happens if you have an emergency and need to fly home from some port of call. If you just have the card you are stuck emergency or not. You may be able to get the consulate involved and get you home but how long will that take? Kind of like when seconds count the police are only minutes away. If you travel any distance from a US boarder you need the book. Period.
