I had a couple of pre 1090 Hesstons and my recollection is that Hesston, NH, and IH uses teeth with the same spacing between rivets. John Deere has different spacing. Don't know about New Idea or Ghel.
I understand the concept now about over or under serrating, but back in the day I didn't pay attention to it. ARIC all the knives on my equipment were over serrated, or worn and resharpened enough so that there was no serrations. Guards on the Hesstons and NH I had were double guards and had no serrations.
