I can remember as a kid if you wanted to kill a bug you sprayed it with DDT. Problem is it was killing off birds because of soft eggs. The chick never made it to hatch. Especially bad for pelicans and other costal birds as the chemical was in run off. As a kid I hardly ever saw a pelican. Since they have banded DDT pelicans are everywhere now.
