One of my grandfathers was on an LST in the Pacific waiting to invade Japan.......The Nukes ended it. My mom was 2 years old when the war ended. My grandfather told me many times, (died 8 years ago now) That he knew for sure that he and all the guys on troop transport ships were just waiting for the orders to invade. He was drafted in Jan. 1945, then boot camp, then in the navy.
