There is more nuclear waste than most in the industry will admit too. The generation plant near me stores all the waste onsite because there never was a repository built as promised. When you look at all the input involved to produce the fuel, build and maintain,(forever)the plants, it is not that cheap. My new son in law is a nuclear plant operator and we have had this discussion.
In my area more and more people have gone back to using coal to heat their homes. I am in the hard coal (Anthracite) area of Pennsylvania, a much better burning coal than what we referre to as soft coal.
