Hello to All,

I'm sending a reminder about the Tractor Drive (Pulling Together to Cure Cancer) in Nappanee, Indiana next Saturday, June 14. It is a fundraiser for United Cancer of Elkhart County, and the funds raised will stay local to help people in our area who have or are dealing with cancer. A donation is not mandatory but would be greatly appreciated.
I would like to tell you about the people in the picture. They are Bob and Juanita Weldy; married 50 yrs., life- long farmers, and Juanita spent 9 years battling cancer with Bob by her side. When Bob was restoring the 520, it was ready for paint when his wife learned that her cancer had returned after a 4 year remission. So he promptly exchanged the green paint for pink. Many people from the Johnny Poppers Club helped him complete the restoration project, as he needed to tend to his wife's needs. The Weldys and the tractor have been an inspiration for many in the community. I recently stopped to see Bob and he showed me the hitch he made to pull the tractor with the sign that says, "Driver in Heaven," as a tribute to his lifelong friend and wife.
There are many others in the clubs involved with this drive who have been affected by cancer. I have chosen to tell you about Bob because his wound is fresh. Easter Sunday this year is when the Lord chose to take his faithful servant, Juanita, home. So if you are not busy next Saturday, June 14th, come on out to Nappanee for the tractor drive. Bring a tractor or come ride along. There will be wagons for riding in. Or just come out to pray for all those who are affected by this harmful disease. There will be a short time of prayer before we head out on the drive at 10:00 am. All the information you need about the drive is on the website nappaneepowerfromthepast.org, or feel free to call me (Rob Meyers) at (574) 354-7244. I hope to see you there. If so, look me up because I would love to shake your hand.

Thank you,
Rob

Today's Featured Article - The 8N and the Fox - by Zane Sherman. Dec. 13 1998, Renfroe, Alabama. Last niht I dreamed about the day that I plowed the field of about 10 acres over on what Jimmy and Dandy called the Ledbetter field. I was driving the 1948 8N Ford tractor that Jimmy bought in 48 new This was prebably in about 1951 and maybe even befor the house was built. This would have made me to be about16 years old and I drove the tractor for nothing and would have paid to drive it if I had had any money which I didn't, but neit ... [Read Article]
