By the way, this is what the fellow at Schramm, Inc. wrote: "The tractors serial number is a six digit number hand stamped just a few inches above the oil pump. See the attached photo for an example. Your tractors serial number would be 11????. If you can locate that number and get back to me I might be able to tell you the year it was made."
He also wrote "Yes, that plate identifies the s/n of only the transmission. It would be meaningful to International Harvester, but we never kept records of it."
But, I remain stumped as to finding another number anywhere. And intrigued by Tim's response in which he seems to have honed in on the year of the machine using the number I provided.
