you got that right. Inspect trees before cutting them. The wood is really tough but constant swaying in wind fractures the trunks up high. I make a bevel notch on one side, then saw down at an angle to it from the other side...just like a normal tree. When it starts to heel over I run like he!! along a preselected route and try to get behind something. I have seen ash trees shatter into several pieces on the way down. If these hit any springy younger trees on the way down they can end up anywhere. Stay clear.
