We tried that on a Massey Harris 50that was plugged almost solid with calcium etc.. We took off the radiator, it was plugged solid, took 2 pieces of hose , took out the thermostat turned the hoses up higher than the engine, pored in 50/50 muriatic acid water, over a period of months it puked out nasty green looking foam, when it quit foaming flushed water, then water/baking soda. Had to get a new radiator, but no ill effects on the cooling system, this is still a light working tractor, no water in the oil, or oil in water, this was 18 yrs. ago. Jim
