I ran an MX8 for 3 years in my custom tractor work business. It did a poor job of cutting in tall grass, left the center high. I bought a new Bushhog 3008 and the cut is near perfect. It has baffles under the deck and a blade design that makes the difference. The JD used a bolt to hold the stump jumpers on, I had one that always wanted to come loose and would fall off at the worst time. BH uses a castellated nut and cotter key...much better. BH is also a little shorter, front end of tractor is not in the air as much. Good thing about the JD, I sold it for what I paid for it after putting about 800 hours on it....
