Did you have the model # to give them? If so, they were blowing smoke up your (nose) to say they couldn't order a manual.
If you did NOT have the model #, there's NO way they could help you.
(DEERE bought Van Brunt back in 1911 and kept their name alongside the DEERE name for MANY years and MANY models 'cuz Van Brunt had such a good "rep" in the seeding equipment world.)
Likewise, if you call the DEERE corporate # I posted you will need the model #. If you don't know what you have, post a photo here, as there's LOTS of knowledgeable folks who will help you identify it.
