Bill, Your 580 has hydrostatic steering in that there is no mechanical connection from your steering column to your wheels. You have a unit on your steering column then hoses that go to 2 hydraulic cylinders on the tie rod. If the engine is off, you can turn the steering wheel in either direction without coming to a stop. The problem is the unit in the steering column. I know nothing about it but it probably has a rotary valve that is spring loaded to return the valve to the null position when you let off the steering. You may hae something as simple as a pin that has sheared in the unit that will allow it to turn to the right and not to the left. First, look to see if the shaft from the steering wheel is properly connected. If it has sat for a while, you may have had some dirt to settle into the valve or condensate from the fluid has caused some rust to make the valve to stick. If, so you will most likely have to go inside of the unit.
If you take it apart keep it clean. These systems are very susceptable to failure from dirt. KRM : Problem with power steering, turns to the right ok.
