I just remembered, reading these posts, that back some 15-20 years ago that young fellows had a great fear of being seen with "hat hair". Wearing a helmet, of course, would give you hat hair, so many guys would buy and use a special accessory bag that attached to the handle bars of their motorcycle or snowmobile so that they could quickly and easily have their hat ready, and then cover their hair before going into a restaurant for lunch. So yes of course they kept the cap on during lunch. Must be that those guys in church rode their motorcycles to the service and didn't want to terrorize the other worshipers with a crazed motorcycle outlaw look.
