I'm still trying to figure this AGCO deal out. If I go into the county seat for the next county to the east of us on the main road you first come across a Case/IH dealer, a few hundred feet to the east and across the street is a John Deere dealer and about a 1/4 of a mile further to the East is a Caterpillar dealer that sells Caterpillar farm tractors and yellow Claus combines. If you look closely at their sign it has AC, Oliver, Minnie Mo, White and New Idea logos on it. Don't think I've seen a Ferguson or a Ferguson dealer since we moved to Iowa. Previously I lived in Wisconsin, in Wisconsin I saw a higher percentage of Oliver tractors than I've seen any place I lived (Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Colorado, Oklahoma, Florida, Texas and Tennessee plus an extended stay in Maryland), yet the only AGCO dealers I saw were Massey Ferguson. Seeing Claus combines I assumed that Gleaner was also dead, thought that was interesting as I can remember Blue combines that said Ford on them but were Claus at our Ford tractor dealer in Michigan. Seemed Ford went through a period of selling Claus combines as Fords but them they bought New Holland and started marketing the NH axial rotor combines through Ford Dealers. So I understand Oliver, White, Minneapolis-Moline and Allis Chalmers are all dead names, ACGO isn't making new equipment under those names but I thought that when they made the decision to discontinue Allis Chalmers part of the reason was to focus on Massey Ferguson as the company felt that was the name with the best future in their stable. I understand they bought the Challenger tractor line from Caterpillar. So why in the heck are they working at building up a new name-Caterpillar? Does the yellow Claus combines mean they have discontinued the Gleaner and MF combines?
