HOWEVER, a fellow who used to work for me is now in charge of maintaining a fleet of ambulances scattered across the State of Nebraska. He once told me when he took the job, they had all Fords with the 6.0 engine. He said they switched them all out for Chevies and cut their maintenance costs to less than half. He didn't go into specifics, just said the Ford 6.0 was a high maintenance engine.
You'll have to admit, though, ambulance use is one of the worst uses you can subject an engine to. They're either idling for long periods of time or running flat out down the road.
