Had an exterminator tell me best solution is to keep them out of the house in the first place.
Walk around the house, look up under the edges where they get in. Expanding foam over screen wire or hardware cloth the large holes, foam the small ones.
They smell and sense air currents moving through openings in walls. If they find an air leak, that's where they will chew through. If it's plugged with foam, they won't find it.
If it's an established trail, marked with their grease, it will need to be plugged with metal or cement.
They come from above too, under the eaves, attic vents, etc.
Have to remember, to us they are a nuisance, to them it's a matter of life and death!
