I have a home made one and it works great. The concept is to put more clean outside air into a hood than you can breath to create a positive air pressure under the hood. This will prevent the fumes from the paint entering the hood.
With this in mind I bought a tyvek hood with down tube. To this I hooked a pool vacuum hose that I already had and run it out outside. The hose is kinda heavy to drag around but it is what I had. I took a old a/c blower that I already had and formed a funnel on the air output to enable me to hook the hose to it.
